Reds closer Eddie Guardado was scheduled for surgery Friday to replace a torn ligament in his left elbow, an operation that likely will sideline him next season. In need of a closer, the Reds obtained the 35-year-old Guardado from Seattle in a trade July 6, the start of Cincinnati’s move to remake its bullpen.
