    Marlins 6, Reds (ss) 2 (AP)

    Eric Milton’s balky back prevented him from making his last spring training start. Milton was scheduled to pitch in Cincinnati’s final exhibition game Saturday against the Florida Marlins, but was scratched because of lower back spasms. Reds manager Jerry Narron said the left-hander would be evaluated Sunday in Cincinnati.

    Eric Milton, scheduled to start the Cincinnati Reds’ final exhibition game against the Florida Marlins, was scratched Saturday morning because of lower back spasms. Manager Jerry Narron said Milton will be evaluated Sunday in Cincinnati. Milton was 0-1 with a 6.59 ERA in four spring training starts.

    Josh Towers won the final spot in the Blue Jays’ rotation, then beat a Cincinnati Reds’ split squad in Toronto’s spring training finale.     Reds option Majewski, Livington (AP)

    Left-hander Bobby Livingston, who was competing for the fifth spot in the Cincinnati Reds’ rotation, was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday along with reliever Gary Majewski. Also, a medical test on outfielder Chris Denorfia detected a torn ligament in his throwing elbow. Denorfia will have reconstructive surgery and be sidelined for about six months.
