Reds OF Freel to rest and limit activity after being examined (PA SportsTicker)
Rest and limited activity was recommended for Cincinnati Reds right fielder Ryan Freel, who suffered a contusion of the neck and head in a collision with a teammate during Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Rest prescribed for injured Reds OF Ryan Freel (AP)
Reds outfielder Ryan Freel was examined Thursday by a head and spine specialist, who recommended rest and limited activity as Freel recovers from a collision with another player. Freel, 31, was playing center field when he collided with right fielder Norris Hopper in the third inning of Monday’s 4-0 win over Pittsburgh in Cincinnati.

Scott Hatteberg thought he blew his chance to spark an eighth-inning rally. He made up for it on the next pitch. Hatteberg hit a solo homer after blowing a hit-and-run play, Matt Belisle struck out a career-high eight and the Cincinnati Reds beat Houston 2-1 Tuesday night to hand the Astros their ninth consecutive loss.

Reds call up Wise to replace injured Freel (AP)
Reds outfielder Ryan Freel was released from the hospital Tuesday and placed on the 15-day disabled list a day after he was hurt in a frightening outfield collision. Freel suffered contusions to his head and neck when he ran into right fielder Norris Hopper in the third inning of Monday’s 4-0 win over Pittsburgh.

Center fielder Ryan Freel was taken off the field on a stretcher after colliding with a teammate and tests came back normal Monday during the Cincinnati Reds’ 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Kyle Lohse threw a six-hit shutout, which snapped the team’s six-game skid as well as Lohse’s personal six-game losing streak.
