Reliever Majewski recalled, Coffey optioned (AP)
The Cincinnati Reds recalled relief pitcher Gary Majewski from Triple-A Louisville on Thursday and optioned reliever Todd Coffey. Majewski, acquired from the Washington Nationals in a trade that has resulted in a Reds’ grievance, was 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 15 relief appearances for Louisville this season.

Tests confirm minor digestive problem with Hamilton (AP)
Medical tests confirmed Wednesday that Cincinnati Reds outfielder Josh Hamilton has nothing more serious than an inflamed digestive tract. Hamilton had severe stomach pain Friday night in Cleveland, where the Reds were playing an interleague series. Cincinnati placed him on the 15-day disabled list Monday, when he was still weak from the ailment.

Griffey ties Killebrew with 573rd homer (AP)
Ken Griffey Jr. tied Harmon Killebrew for eighth place on the home run list Tuesday, hitting the 573rd of his career. The 37-year-old outfielder hit a two-run shot in the fourth inning, the Cincinnati Reds’ first hit off Washington’s Matt Chico. His drive to right field off a 2-2 pitch barely cleared the wall.

Reds recall Encarnacion from Triple-A, send Hamilton to DL (AP)
The Cincinnati Reds recalled third baseman Edwin Encarnacion from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, and put ailing outfielder Josh Hamilton on the 15-day disabled list. The 24-year-old Encarnacion took over third base last season, but struggled this year, batting only .218 with one home run while committing six errors.
