Left-handed reliever Kent Mercker agreed Friday to a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds and was invited to spring training. Mercker spent 17 years in the big leagues, making 677 appearances with the Braves, Orioles, Indians, Reds, Cardinals, Red Sox, Angels, Rockies and Cubs. In four seasons with the Reds, ending in 2006, he had a 3.66 ERA in 192 appearances, including 25 starts.
