The Cincinnati Reds called up rookie infielder Paul Janish to replace injured shortstop Jeff Keppinger. Keppinger was put on the 15-day disabled list after suffering a broken left kneecap when he fouled off a ball in Tuesday night’s game. Janish, who will make his major league debut when he plays, batted .293 with four home runs and 20 RBIs for Triple-A Louisville this year.
